We did this trip last year (together) so I KNOW EXACTLY what I’m missing out on and lemme tell you…never mind.
Here’s some need to know stuff for those of you considering such a trip:
It’s a 12.5 hour drive from Port Perry to Matane (great launch point)
- trail passes are $150 for a week pass and $230 for a full season
- once you get there, make a plan and book your rooms. Everyone there is either coming from or going to where you are. Don’t be one of those people we saw turned away – that really sucks you don’t want that!
- the pa_kaw_je aka the snowmobile package. They are available throughout Gaspe and basically it means you pay one price (starting as low as $72 and get hotel, dinner & breakfast). Really takes the guess work out of budgeting the only wild card is you only have 4 or so selections to choose from for dinner and if you want something outside these options you pay. Oh ya, the food is AMAZING here. Virtually everywhere we went we were “wowed”.
- interior trails (shown in red & blue on the map above)- don’t shy away from these they are awesome. Initially we weren’t going to touch them with a 10ft pole (who wants to get stuck in the middle of nowhere right), but we met up with a group from New Brunswick who sounded so convincing we went for it and boy we weren’t disappointed!
