[Here's one from Road Crew]
Well here we are again a dedicated group of sled engineers with frosty beverages to keep us on our game plan

…or so we thought!
After inventory was calculated (don’t ask why it took a whole night…honey!) we decide that the latest Bravo is the one to keep for Juniour and the other will be the “everyone else can use it” sled. There – that alone took yet another night of discussion. Hmm there seems to be a pattern with these engineering types and it involves my fridge…
The keeper Bravo had the motor removed, the belly pan cleaned and the donor motor installed.
Realizing the fridge was empty (again!) and the budget low, the BBQ paint was accosted and put to use:

Ya know where I’m goin’ here don’t ya…
“Honey, we need a new muffler for the boys sled (heh heh), and the place by the beer store – I MEAN in town has a rebuilt one”.
Man – I’m starting to believe this stuff myself now!
“Soooo I have to go right away and get it ok bye.”
Ya, good luck with that one!

“Wait just on cotton-pickin minute here!”
She doesn’t really talk (or look) like that but it fit better in the story than what she did say!
Long story short the “new” muffler discovered:
- a bunch of chuckling
- 4 “just kidding ya”
- and promise of sushi (everyone’s got their kryptonite!)
we were able to aquire said liquid (honestly) and continue the work at hand.
The Bravo now has:
- a good motor
- a good track
- suspension, what there is of it
and even a widening kit (heh heh) just kidding!
This left the seat to be recovered:

and the hood redone.
Now that we had a couple of irons in the fire but nothing concrete, in the trailer she goes and it’s time to peruse the chaos left in the garage.
Turns out with a few staples the seat on the Bravo is salvageable.
“Honey we were at it ALL night”.
Now for a lookie at the front end:

“Wow, this thing can turn 2 opposite directions at once – that must have been an option back then dear!”

But were it not for my jungle reflexes did I narrowly escape that one!
The skiis on the one we wanted to use were so bad you could see through them in places

We tried to remove them but they weren’t going anywhere without some heat and possibly some new parts. Alas this required some consultation – ANOTHER night gone!
Cheap and easy was going to be the best choice for this situation – changing the complete spindle from one to another, they were removed and reinstalled. Just 2 new tie rods and some aligning and we were really moving along!
The hood of the 87 was installed and everything cleaned up:

We are ready for some snow!
As we gathered around and admired our accomplishments the gravity of the situation hit – we can’t be finished yet!! Soo off comes the muffler and hood just in the nick of time…
“Yes dear it IS taking longer than we expected too!!!!!!”
Road Crew Garage Dwellers over & out.
